Five lessons I learnt in 2019

It may seem a little late, but it’s never too late to reflect! So today I am discussing five lessons that learnt in 2019.

1. Follow the joy.

When you do what you love, everything falls into place. If you’re not sure what you love to do, follow the things that bring you joy. They don’t need to bring you an income. Or at least not to start. Simply by doing more of whatever it is that you enjoy doing, you will start to bring more joy into your life.

2. Trust and surrender the outcome.

It's important to get clear on what you want then set goals and intentions, and take action. However the outcome is not up to us. Trust that everything will work out and surrender to what you want, or something better.

3. Self-care needs to come before everything.

If your health and wellbeing is not okay, everything suffers from your relationships with others to the energy you have available to do your work and create.

4. You don't have to be busy all the time to be productive.

In our society, we wear busyness like a badge of honour. Once you have clarity about what you want to achieve, you can focus on the actions that will get you there and outsource, delegate or remove anything else. Being busy and overwhelmed is often a result of not having priorities in order and saying yes to too many things.

5. The same lesson will come up until you receive it.

Lessons that you need will keep appearing through circumstances outside of your control until you learn the lesson. To learn it, look at the lesson, acknowledge what it is, and thank and release it. When you can reflect on the lesson without feeling a surge of emotion, the lesson has been learnt. Sometimes it can take a while and requires support and talking through, but it's SO worth the process.
