The biggest sign of rapid personal growth
Over the weekend, I was having a chat with a friend about massive personal growth and how breakthroughs tend to come right after break downs.
We were chatting about why things often come to a point of crisis before we actually take the steps to create change.
This includes our careers, relationships, physical/spiritual/emotional/mental health, and so on.
Reflecting on this, I think many of us become more risk-averse at every life stage. When we're kids we're happy to walk away from pretty much anything and not look back, knowing that there is usually something better around the corner.
But then, we experience one of the disappointments life inevitably throws at us, and then another, and then another. When we realise that taking risks or changing things up can create a negative outcome, we start to become more inclined to keep things the same. There's an old Irish proverb that says, "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't." Meaning that it's better to stay where you are and deal with what you know than face the possible repercussions of something new.
This is such a risky, self-limiting way of thinking. And it's one of those self-limiting beliefs that I've personally had to shed in my own life, career and business.
The fact is, there is ALWAYS something better around the corner when you’re in flow with life (for more reading on this topic check out The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein). That's not to say that we should always be jumping from one thing to another and never committing to anything in life. That in itself is avoidance. Rather, it's knowing and feeling within ourselves when something doesn't feel right and life feels blocked - and having the courage to be able to walk away from that thing. Whatever it is.
As soon as you do that, you open the door to incredible things happening FOR you. But often it requires a leap of faith because we can't always see the full path laid out before us - we have to instead take one step at a time and trust that the next footprint will appear.
And it does. It ALWAYS does.
If you feel like everything is falling apart, that's good because it means that you're on the verge of a massive breakthrough.
Your life is changing and up-levelling in a big way to meet your goals and you are being invited to become the person that you need to be in order to receive this growth.
